At least one closed box-form structural element(150) with flat side walls(151-156) is located in the rear bottom section of the structure(101). The structural element extends over a substantial part of the motor vehicle's width. The structural element may be square in form or square-like, or may be in the shape of a wedge with an upper and/or lower side wall inclining in or against the vehicle's direction of travel, or inclining transversely to the direction of travel. An Independent claim is included for a fuel tank which is designed so that it completes a square with the structural element.
