In the acoustic signal generator (1) for use in a car, the signals (i, ii, iii) simulate acoustic noise of mechanical, hydraulic, or electric components and are directed into the car for the driver's perception. The generator has an acoustic source (3) that can be located in the car. The generator is operated by a control signal (S1-3) and has a memory (2) for at least one acoustic signal, selected in response to a control signal. Independent claims are included for acoustic warning transmission.
