PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image having low fog and less liable to a change in maximum density and sensitivity at the humidity of development environment by incorporating a specified compound and a nucleating agent on the side having an image forming layer containing photosensitive silver halide. SOLUTION: A heat developable photosensitive material containing at least one compound of the formula and at least one nucleating agent on the side having an image forming layer containing photosensitive silver halide is heated at 80 to <120 deg.C for 5 sec in such a way that an image does not appear and then heat development is carried out at >=110 deg.C to form the objective image. In the formula, Z1 and Z2 are each halogen, X1 is H or an electron withdrawing group, Y1 is -CO- or -SO2-, Q is allyline or a divalent heterocyclic group, L is a combining group, W is carboxyl, its salt, sulfo, its salt, a phosphoric group, hydroxyl, a quaternary ammonium group or a polyethyleneoxy group and (n) is 0 or 1.
