PARAQUAT RESISTANT GENE, PLASMID VECTOR COMPRISING IT AND SCREENING METHOD OF TRANSFORMED PLANT USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Provided are a paraquat resistant gene, a plasmid vector comprising the gene and a screening method of a transformed plant using the gene. The transformed plant is readily screened by the paraquat resistant gene as a selectable marker in paraquat-added medium. CONSTITUTION: The transformed plant such as Graminae is prepared by the steps of : isolating and identifying paraquat resistant strain from paraquat-treated soil for a ling time; cloning genomic DNA extracted from the paraquat resistant strain; sequencing the nucleic acid sequence of the cloned gene; inserting the paraquat resistant gene represented by SEQ ID NO : 1 into a suitable plasmid such as pJW1-pqr2.1; transforming a plant with the plasmid. The screening method of the transformed plant is characterized by comprising culturing the transformed plant and a normal plant as control in medium containing paraquat as the selectable marker.
