PURPOSE: An air conditioner for a vehicle is provided to rapidly store cooling energy by heat exchanging between cooling water in a storage tank and refrigerant circulating in an evaporator. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner for a vehicle comprises an air conditioning case(110), an evaporator(101), a heater core(102), and a storage tank(140). The storage tank is installed in the front side of the evaporator and stores cooling water circulating in the heater core. In cooling and heating mode, cooling and heating energy is stored in the cooling water of the storage tank and if an engine stops, the cooling water storing the heating and cooling energy is circulated in the heater core to prevent sudden change of air temperature discharging from the air conditioning case.
