A gas barrier film having an alternate laminate comprising at least one barrier layer comprising an inorganic substance and at least one organic layer and at least one moisture absorbing layer on a thermoplastic support, wherein the laminate shows a water vapor permeability of 0.005 g/m<SUP>2</SUP>.day or lower at 25° C. and 75% RH. A gas barrier film having ultrahigh gas barrier performance and an organic EL device utilizing the gas barrier film having superior durability and flexibility are provided. |
