A method, a system, a home NodeB and a network element for controlling power saving of the home NodeB are provided by the present invention. The method includes: the home NodeB decides to enter the sleep status of power saving (S302); the home NodeB transmits power saving status information to a correlative network element and enters the sleep status of power saving (S304); the power saving status information includes the cell identifier of the cell in which the home NodeB is located and the access mode of the home NodeB; the correlative network element stores the power saving status information, and activates the home NodeB according to the power saving status information when it is confirmed that a user wants to hand over to the cell in which the home NodeB is located (S306). The present invention solves the problem of the big power cost of the home NodeB and is beneficial for power saving and environment. And the manner does not affect the user to normally hand over to the cell in which the home NodeB is located, so as not to affect the user experience.
