<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and liquid crystal display method in which the number of divisions can be increased with edge-type back light. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a back light device arranging a light source in a terminal part of or around an optical system, and a video panel for displaying a video image with the back light device as a light source. The light source is disposed in an array shape in the terminal part of or around the optical system, at least two or more areas are present in a direction of a terminal part opposed to the terminal part where the light source is present, and for the at least two or more areas, lighting is individually controlled by the light source disposed in the array shape. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
