PURPOSE: A device for transmitting bit map data for a print is provided to reduce data transmitting amount by dividing job for converting image data of a printer driver of a personal computer and a video controller of a printer. CONSTITUTION: A personal computer has an application(10) for supplying bit map data. A printer includes an engine controller(16) for outputting data which has a predetermined resolution. A printer driver(12) enlarges data of a device independent bit map format as a predetermined size with respect to the Y-axis direction to a plane, compresses the data, and transmits the data. A video controller(14) decompresses the transmitted data, converts an R, G, B color table of an image into a gray table, converts a color image into the device dependent bit map data, enlarges the data as a predetermined size with respect to the X-axis direction to the plane, changes the data into a bit map image which is printed by a halftone table, and transmits the data to the engine controller(16).
