METHOD OF CLEAVING GLASS FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of cleaving a glass film capable of continuously performing stable cleaving operation of a glass film while avoiding interference between cleaving surfaces.

SOLUTION: This method of cleaving a glass film G includes: continuously cleaving, while delivering the glass film G in a predetermined direction, the glass film G along a preset cleaving line 8 extending in a delivery direction (a) by thermal stress generated through localized heating performed along the preset cleaving line 8 and through cooling of a locally heated region H; dividing the glass film G in the width direction thereof; and forming a predetermined widthwise clearance between the respective divided glass films 10 adjacent to each other after the division of the glass film G and before the direction change of the respective divided glass films 10 when changing directions of the respective divided glass films 10 adjacent to each other after the division to be separated from each other in front and rear directions thereof.
