<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a break correcting device which enables prevention of image quality deterioration caused by embedding a digital watermark, without predetermining the pixel value of the foreground or background of an image. <P>SOLUTION: The break correcting device of this invention functions as a device added to a digital watermark insertion device using an existent digital watermark technique. The break correcting device receives as an input a correction parameter, an input image to the digital watermark insertion device and a watermark image, and outputs a corrected watermark image.
