<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel which is capable of reducing power consumption while ensuring the mechanical strength of a dielectric layer. <P>SOLUTION: The plasma display panel comprises: a front plate 2; and a rear plate. The front plate 2 and the rear plate are disposed opposite to each other, and their peripheries are sealed. The rear plate 10 has a rear intermediate layer 17, an address electrode 12, and a base dielectric layer 13 covering the address electrode 12. The rear intermediate layer 17 comprises hollow particulates 20, each of which has a hollow inside, and an intermediate-layer dielectric glass layer 22.
