<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for identifying a communication object of an electronic key, which enables the one electronic key to be used as a common key for wireless communications among a plurality of communication objects and which enables only one specified vehicle to be operated even when a plurality of vehicles exist around the key, and the electronic key. <P>SOLUTION: A wireless UHF transmitter 16a with antenna directivity and a smart UHF transmitter 16b with no antenna directivity are provided as UHF transmitters 16 for an electronic key 2. When the electronic key 2 wirelessly performs ID verification with a vehicle 1, the wireless UHF transmitter 16a is put into operation in wireless communications, and the smart UHF transmitter 16b is put into operation in smart communications.
