<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber-reinforced plastic supporting bar, which is excellent in productivity, can easily satisfy required specifications such as strength, rigidity and weight even for a relatively large load, and further can be easily optimized in overall dimension so as to be insertable into a narrow space, and a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The fiber-reinforced plastic supporting bar includes: a long square pipe extending over the whole length of the supporting bar, which is cut from a pultruded fiber-reinforced plastic square pipe having a hollow rectangular cross-section; and a short square pipe extending from a root portion below the long square pipe in parallel to the long square pipe with a length shorter than that of the long square pipe; wherein both the pipes are integrated by bonding.
