The device (10) has a lighting element (11) i.e. LED, mounted in a door (12) of a vehicle between a bottom part of a shelf (13) in the door and an underside of the door. Transparent apertures (14, 16) are provided at the underside of the door and in an area of edges of the door turned towards an interior of the vehicle. A tinted windscreen (19) is provided at the edge of the door. The transparent apertures are provided with a transparent covering (17) at the bottom part of the shelf, where the covering comprises a transparent region and a reflector.
