PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide insulating microparticles and a display element having fast response of inversion movement generating according to the inversion of electric fields and to be used for a display device such as a twist ball display, and to provide a display device which uses the display element. SOLUTION: A positive charge forming region and a negative charge forming region in the insulating microparticle are formed asymmetric with respect to any planes including the rotation axes for the inversion.
