<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circular saw capable of discharging cutting chips more smoothly. <P>SOLUTION: The circular saw, particularly the handheld circular saw 10, includes a workpiece loading surface 24, a saw blade 20, and a protective cover 22 covering the saw blade 20 in an area above a workpiece 36 to be machined. A geometry and position of the protective cover 22 with respect to the saw blade 20 are configured so that a first reflection from the protective cover 22 at a tangent T extending from an intersecting point of an outer circumferential edge of the saw blade and the workpiece loading surface 24 forms a maximum angle of 30°, particularly an angle α of 20° with a perpendicular line to the workpiece loading surface 24. An inner circumferential surface 37 of the protective cover 22 in an area 18 of the workpiece loading surface is configured so that a minimum clearance X to the outer circumference edge of the saw blade 20 is maximally 10 mm at a position of colliding with the protective cover 22 from the workpiece 36 and/or a length of the tangent T has a clearance L of up to 20 mm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
