PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple piston collision prevention control method for a linear compressor capable of reducing a stroke of a piston and preventing the piston from colliding against a cylinder head surely, stably, highly efficiently and with high reliability at low cost without fluctuating top clearance of the piston. SOLUTION: This piston collision prevention control method for the linear compressor comprises a process for driving the linear compressor by drive frequency at which drive frequency of the piston agrees with resonance frequency determined by gas spring constant, a process for reading a current position of the piston and an upper limit position set value of travel of the piston to compare the current position of the piston with the upper limit position set value of the piston, and a process for supplying a drive frequency command value lower than the resonance frequency to the piston to reduce an amplitude of the piston when the current position of the piston exceeds the upper limit position set value of the piston.
