Fixing a first workpiece (2) with a second workpiece (3) by friction welding comprises moving the workpieces in a common fixing plane to attach together for the production of a frictional heat on the corresponding friction surfaces of the both workpieces under axial pressure in the fixing planes and for the conclusion of the friction welding method for the production of a material closure between the workpieces in a particular position, in which a predetermined surface point or a surface midpoint of both the first and the second workpieces lies together. Fixing a first workpiece (2) with a second workpiece (3) by friction welding comprises moving the workpieces in a common fixing plane to attach together for the production of a frictional heat on the corresponding friction surfaces of the both workpieces under axial pressure in the fixing planes and for the completion of the friction welding method for the production of a material closure between the workpieces in a preferable position, in which a predetermined surface point or a surface midpoint of both the first and the second workpieces lies together, and is axially compressed to each other, where the first workpiece with its predetermined surface point or with its surface midpoint is moved in relative to the second workpiece within the fixing plane (8) on a cohesive cycloidal path (11), which in turn one or several times touches or intersects the predetermined surface point or surface midpoint (10) of the second workpiece.
