<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three dimensional LED structure having an active region vertically shifted. <P>SOLUTION: An LED chip comprises: a substrate 10; a mesa 25 formed on the substrate 10; a first LED structure 1 formed on the upper surface of the substrate 10 made exposed by the mesa 25; and a second LED structure 2 formed on the upper surface of the mesa 25. Each of the LED structures 1 and 2 includes an n-type layers 301 and 302, active regions 401 and 402, and p-type layers 501 and 502. The substrate 10 has an integrated region 102, an isolation region 192 and an inclined region 122.
