摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon oxide-based cathode material which offers an excellent initial efficiency, and achieves a higher stability of an electrode paste when using polyimide as a binder to produce an electrode paste and a better cycle durability in comparison to a conventional cathode material. <P>SOLUTION: A cathode material for a secondary battery using a nonaqueous electrolyte includes: a silicon-silicon oxide-based complex at least having a structure in which silicon particles having diameters of 0.5-50 nm are distributed in silicon oxide at atomic order and/or in a microcrystalline state, and having a Si/O molar ratio of 1/0.5-1.6; and a carbon coat applied onto a surface of the silicon-silicon oxide-based complex at a coating amount of 1-40 mass% with respect to the silicon-silicon oxide-based complex. With the cathode material, magnesium and/or calcium are/is doped into the silicon-silicon oxide-based complex at least at a doping amount of 0.1-20 mass% by causing magnesium hydride and/or calcium hydride to react on the silicon-silicon oxide-based complex. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
