[Problem] To provide a resin composition which, after curing is carried out using thermosetting technology, can be applied in a film thickness of 1 µm or greater and which shows high transparency, high solvent resistance, and excellent liquid crystal orientation capability. [Solution] The resin composition either contains a polymer having cyclohexene rings in the side chains, or a compound having cyclohexene rings at the terminals represented by formula (1) and a binder polymer. [In formula (1), R is a C1-20 organic group, and X is a hydrogen atom, methyl group, or halogen atom.]
