摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejection apparatus which efficiently discharges air bubbles and foreign matter together with a liquid from ejection ports, and further suppresses a useless consumption of the liquid. <P>SOLUTION: A sub tank communicates with an ink inflow channel through an ink supply pipe, and communicates with an air discharge channel through an ink return pipe. The ink inflow channel communicates with the ink outflow channel and the air discharge channel. The ink outflow channel communicates with the ejection ports. A purge pump is provided in the ink supply pipe, and a circulation valve is provided in the ink return pipe. By driving the purge pump while the circulation valve is opened, the ink is made to circulate through the sub tank, the ink inflow channel and the air discharge channel in this order. In this state, by closing the circulation valve, the ink is discharged from the ejection ports.
