The method involves removing fodder from a flat silo (31) by a removal tool i.e. milling roller (3), of a self-propelled fodder mixture wagon (21), and combining the removed fodder with a goods stream. The stream is continuously analyzed by a sensor (20), and actual ingredient data obtained by the analysis result is compared with preset ingredient data in a computer (16). Nutrient value of mass of the removed fodder is computed from the actual ingredient data and weight of the removed fodder. Nutrient contents of the mass of the removed fodder are visibly represented in a data display (17). An independent claim is also included for a device for optimizing removal of fodder from a buffer stock, comprising a sensor e.g. near-infrared spectroscopy (MIRS) sensor and magnetic resonance tomography sensor.
