<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an imaging method allowing security protection, ensured safety, and simply deletion of a password. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises: imaging means for taking an image of a subject and outputting the image as image data; recording means for recording the image data in a storage medium as an image file; reproduction means for reproducing the image file; password setting or changing means for setting or changing the password; password deletion means for deleting the password; and a password lock mode setting means for setting a password lock mode which prohibits reproduction of the image file without input of the password.
