<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high quality interpolated image in which color artifacts inevitably generated in color interpolation processing are minimized. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing method for converting a first image expressed in a color system consisting of plural color components and consisting of plural pixels each having color information of one color component to a second image consisting of plural pixels each having color information of a luminance component comprises: a first type luminance information generation step for generating color information of a first type luminance component which is a color component different from the color system of the first image; a second type luminance information generation step for generating color information of a second type luminance component which is the same color component as the color system of the first image; a color difference information generation step for generating color information of a color difference component; a color gradient analysis step for obtaining a color gradient indicating the degree of color variation; and a luminance information composition step for switching the first type luminance information generated by the first type luminance information generation step and the second type luminance information generated by the second type luminance information generation step for use, or performing weight composition of them based on the obtained color gradient to combine color information of a luminance component. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
