The method involves connecting a gear box (5) between a drive unit (1) and an output unit (4) of a combustion engine (2). The combustion engine is uncoupled and stopped by the output unit. The combustion engine is assigned to be started in a direction on a side. The combustion engine is started by an electrical machine (3) during high external temperature, where the temperature is smaller than a threshold value during standstill of a motor car. The combustion engine is deactivated if rotation speed of the combustion engine exceeds the threshold value.
