<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that it is undesirable from the viewpoint of usability because a standby time occurring due to a temperature control change is long, in a fixing device including first and second fixing members facing each other, a nip contact/separation means for bringing the fixing members into contact with each other or separating the fixing members from each other, and first and second heating means and first and second cooling means controlling the temperature of the respective fixing members. <P>SOLUTION: When a temperature change by cooling occurs, a calculation including the present temperature and target temperature of the first and second fixing members and a cooling gradient coefficient is performed to decide the operation sequences of the first and second cooling means and the nip contact/separation means, so that the temperature of the respective fixing members reaches the target temperature in a shortest standby time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
