<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mattress which makes it possible to enhance moisture absorbing properties of the matress, moisture radiating properties, moisture permeability, bearing properties for maintaining a good posture, and cushioning properties giving a human body soft feeling. <P>SOLUTION: The mattress 1 includes: a plate-like core member portion 2 comprised of fibers; a surface layer portion 3 obtained by laminating a plurality of piled plate-like cushion layers 31 to 33 comprised of fibers; and an outer cover 4 that covers the core member portion 2 and the surface layer portion 3 piled over the core member portion 2. The core member portion 2 is formed by arranging fibers in the direction of plate width and is higher in density than each cushion layer 31 to 33. Each cushion layer is formed by arranging fibers in the direction of plate thickness so that the density is constant.
