PROTECTIVE FILM FOR POLARIZER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably laminate a protective film having low water permeability (moisture permeability) on a polarizer film. SOLUTION: The protective film for a polarizer is used by being laminated on one or both surfaces of a polarizer film and has <=500 g/(m<2> 24 hr) moisture permeability at 70 deg.C and 90%RH and <50 deg. contact angle with pure water on the surface opposing to the polarizer film. The opposing face of the protective film to the polarizer films is preferably subjected to alkali treatment, corona treatment or UV ozone treatment. As for the optical characteristics, the protective film preferably has 0 to 20 nm phase difference, >=85% transmittance for rays and <=2% haze. The resin composition preferably contains (A) a thermoplastic resin having substituted or nonsubstituted imide groups in the side chains and (B) a thermoplastic resin having substituted or nonsubstituted phenyl groups and nitrile groups in the side chains. The thermoplastic resin (A) preferably consists of an olefin component and a component having substituted or nonsubstituted imide groups in the side chains.
