PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a life predicting method for a surface-treated steel material capable of predicting a life at high precision, a surface-treated steel material related to the life prediction, a designing method for the surface-treated steel material, and a manufacturing method for the surface-treated steel material. SOLUTION: Corrosion amount and corrosion environmental factors for a plurality of years are respectively measured for a single or a plurality of parts of a real machine in which a surface-treated steel material is used. Based on the corrosion amount and the corrosion environment factors, secular change of corrosion amount for the parts of the real machine is acquired. Based on the secular change in the corrosion amount, a corrosion life for that parts is acquired.
