<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase NVH performance by shortening an ignition delay in an engine with a low compression ratio. <P>SOLUTION: The engine 1 is an engine with a low compression ratio in which its geometric compression ratio is set to 12 to 15. The engine 1 includes an injector 18 aranged so as to be oriented into a cylinder 11a and for directly injecting fuel into the cylinder 11a, and a PCM 10 for controlling a mode of injecting the fuel into the cylinder 11a through the injector 18. The PCM 10 performs main injection where the fuel is injected to cause main combustion mainly including diffusion combustion and performs a plurality of pre-injections where the fuel is injected with timing prior to the main injection to cause pre-stage combustion prior to the main combustion, and controls the injection mode of pre-stage injections and the injection mode of the main injection so that a heat release rate of the main combustion starts to increase after a heat release rate of the pre-combustion starts to decrease at the same time when the heat release rate of pre-stage combustion reaches a peak. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
