<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying device, which can suppress uncarryable-size paper from being carried by mistake without making its structure almost complicated as compared with conventional devices, and to provide an image reading device having the same. <P>SOLUTION: Contrary to the position in the main scanning direction of a front sensor 310 which detects paper, the position in the main scanning direction of a rear B sensor 320 which detects paper is 102.35 mm distant in the main scanning direction. Then, this distance is broader than the length (90 mm) of a name card M, which is too small to be carried to a paper discharge tray, in the main scanning direction, and is shorter than the length (148 mm) of carryable-size (A5) paper in the main scanning direction. Therefore, if no paper is detectable in both directions of the front sensor 310 and the rear B sensor 320, carrying of paper stops. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
