<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the number of medium to be processed per unit time in an inspection of magnetic recording medium in which positioning data are recorded. <P>SOLUTION: By coaxially rotating an upper stage medium 1A and a lower stage medium 1B on which servo patterns are magnetically transferred respectively, an inspection apparatus performs a certification inspection for a first and a second face of the rotating upper stage medium 1A and a certification inspection for a first and a second face of the rotating lower stage medium 1B continuously. In each inspection, based on servo patterns recorded on each face, the inspection apparatus performs positioning of a magnetic head corresponding to the respective faces and recording of test data, and detects deficiency due to the defects of a magnetic layer from the results obtained by reproducing the test data. Furthermore, in each inspection, the inspection apparatus detects deficiency due to the failure of the magnetic transfer from the results obtained by reproducing the servo data recorded on each face. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
