<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material which has excellent physical properties such as a refractive index of about 1.60, low specific gravity, high strength and high heat resistance. <P>SOLUTION: A composition for optical materials comprises a compound (a) separately having one or more groups selected from a group consisted of an acryloyl group, a methacryloyl group, an allyl group, and a vinyl group, and one or more β-epithiopropyl groups in a molecular, and a compound (b) having a styrene skeleton. Alternatively, the composition for optical materials contains a compound (c) having one or more thiol groups in a molecular.
