PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fundus imaging apparatus and a fundus imaging method capable of alleviating loads on an operator and a patient in fundus imaging and of acquiring a high-resolution fundus image.

SOLUTION: The fundus imaging apparatus having a tracking function is configured to: determine whether or not a template is recorded based on specific information of an eye to be inspected (203); when the template is recorded, read out the template (204); execute template matching on an acquired fundus image (208); and execute tracking at the time of fundus imaging according to a result of the template matching (211).
