PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce a desirable color by performing color matching between an input device and an output device in an apparatus equipped with an input device and an output device without being affected by the color characteristics of the devices. SOLUTION: The color matching profile creating device creates a color matching profile between the input device and the output device using an input device profile and an output device profile in addition to a color conversion profile describing a color conversion characteristic in absolute color space. Since the color conversion profile describes a color conversion characteristic in the absolute color space, color conversion which is not affected by the characteristic of the input device is performed against image data obtained from the input device. Hence, the image data are outputted with the color characteristic determined in the absolute color space irrespective of the characteristic of the output device, by executing color matching processing using the created color conversion profile.
