PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an appropriate index in a video recording medium, and to efficiently record, display and transfer video data by using the index provided. SOLUTION: An index area is provided to a specific part of the video recording medium. When depressing a shutter switch, the address of the video data, the video data length and relevant information of the video data are recorded to the index area. Information, such as a representative image of video data, the date and the time of photographing, the location of the photographing, the focal distance, the weather, etc. are recorded as relevant information. A list of representative images is displayed and printed based on this index data.
