PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simply structured and lightweight antenna apparatus especially suited to use in a radar system installed in a ship, a gulf coast or the like. SOLUTION: The antenna apparatus is structured as follows: a horn portion is connected to a mode converter connected to a feeding waveguide with slots; blocking plates for preventing foreign matters from entering into the antenna apparatus are arranged at a front part of the horn portion; a cross polarized wave suppressing elements composed of electrically conductive plate members with a large number of slits are provided directly on the blocking plate; the electrically conductive plate members of the cross polarized wave suppressing elements form electrically conductive material layers provided on inside surfaces of the blocking plates, while the slits are formed by eliminating partially the electrically conductive material layers by means of etching; the blocking plates may be provided either at a front opening of the horn portion or at a connection part between the mode converter and the horn portion and further can be provided on a radome surrounding the feeding waveguide, the mode converter and the horn portion.
