PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an echo canceller control system which can suppress an echo immediately after a speech is started by, even if it is connected with an arbitrary destination, executing correction of the transmission characteristics of an echo route promptly. SOLUTION: An initial convergence time is shortened by setting a filter coefficient substantially equal to the transmission characteristics of the echo route to the initial value of the echo canceller. When the filter coefficient generates an estimated mistake during speech, the preserved filter coefficient is transferred, thereby shortening the time of continuing a sensing echo.
