An on-board vehicle payment system configured for processing payments conducted on an aircraft is described. The system is configured to associate a passenger identifier, for example a booking reference or boarding card, with authorized credit to enable and facilitate cashless transactions conducted on a flight. The authorized credit may be pre-paid 405 by the user or given to the user in a reward mechanism. The passenger identifier is stored in association with the authorized credit value. When a payment request, including an identifier and a payment value, is received from an on-board POS, the received identifier is compared 460 to the stored passenger identifier(s).
