PURPOSE: A stereoscopic image display and a driving method thereof are provided to increase the display quality of 2D and 3D image by turning on one of first and second sub pixels with an active black stripe. CONSTITUTION: The edge of left-eye image data and the edge of right eye image data are extracted. A 3D depth unit compares the distance between edges with the mapping table(S1, S2). Copied pixel data from the left/right eye image data is allocated in a non-stereoscopic image(S3,S5,S6). A 3D depth value is over a threshold value. Black data and the stereoscopic image data are supplied to a timing controller(S3,S4,S6).
