PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a high precision mold and to accurately produce a molded gear in which the end surface of a tooth is chamfered by using the mold. SOLUTION: With the use of the first discharge electrode in the same shape as the cross-sectional shape crossing the rotary shaft of the molded gear at right angles, electrical discharge machining is applied to a metal member whose thickness is smaller than the tooth width of the molded gear to penetrate it in the thickness direction to manufacture a gear piece having a hollow part in the same shape as the molded gear. With the use of the second discharge electrode which has the same shape as the cross-sectional shape crossing the rotary shaft of the molded gear at right angles and has a chamfered slope in the same shape as the chamfered part of each tooth at its tip part, electrical discharge machining is applied to another metal member to a prescribed depth in the thickness direction to manufacture a chamfered piece having a recess in the same shape as the chamfered part of the molded gear. The hollow part of the gear piece and the recess of the chamfered piece are put together, the gear piece and the chamfered piece are connected together to assemble the mold, and the molded gear is produced by molding a gear material using the mold.
