<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily identify each commodity indicated by an in-store code, the in-store codes being individually used in a plurality of stores. <P>SOLUTION: A code management server 10 includes a code management DB 11 for storing code management information including code identification codes (JAN codes) given to commodities when producing or manufacturing the commodities and in-store codes given to the commodities indicated by the commodity identification codes at each retail chain. The commodity identification code given to a commodity to be retrieved is designated. The code management information including the commodity identification code accepted is retrieved by referring to the code management DB 11.
