<p>Apparatus for use in an installation in which artificial threads pass through two sets of rollers at some distance apart comprises a suction-type thread collecting device 4 mounted on a rod 13 situated between the sets of rollers. A collecting device 4 may be provided under each thread, or one device may be moved along the rod as required. If a thread breaks it is guided to a notch 6 of a collecting device 4 and sucked into an air discharge line 8 leading it to a waste receptacle. The thread is then led over guides 9, 10. A thread near to the broken thread is guided over guides 9, 10 and under a guide 11; the broken thread is then connected to this <PICT:0720648/IV (a)/1> thread and is carried along by it, a knife 12 cutting the loose end when the point of connection of the yarns has passed the knife. The threads are subsequently removed from underneath guide 11. The method can be applied to threading-in the threads when starting the installation if one yarn has first been passed between the rollers.</p> |
