Class 7(3) The 'heat responsive element of a thermostat controlling the changeover of fuel in a bi-fuel fuel supply system is in direct thermal contact with the wall of a hot spot in the induction pipe heated by exhaust gases or is thermally connected with said hot spot through a part other than a wall of the exhaust or induction systems. The hot spot 18, Fig. 1, projects through the exhaust pipe into the induction pipe opposite the carburetter outlet 16 and is formed integral with. or has welded thereto, a stem 22 of good conducting material such as bronze carrying a socket 23 in which is secured the heat responsive element 24 of a thermostat controlling a bi-fuel carburetter, e.g. as described in Specification 644,721. The exhaust gases from one or more outlets 14 are directed by conduits 28 into a casing within the exhaust pipe which directs the gases through a nozzle 29 into the interior of the hot spot 18. A flange 25 on the thermostat is secured to a removable cover plate closing an aperture in the exhaust pipe. through which the member 18 may be withdrawn. In modifications the casing is formed integral with the cover plate or with the hot spot member 18 or the socket for receiving the heat responsive element of the thermostat is formed in the hot spot 18.
