<p>An atomic carbon material which comprises carbon atoms in a state near to that in the case where they are present as an organic compound, that is, in a state near to atoms having a diameter of 1 nm or less (theoretically, approximately 1.66 Š and in a state of a bulk or a particle having a particle diameter of 1 nm of less wherein they are collected with one another by the attractive force between atoms; and a method for preparing the atomic carbon material which comprises heating a raw material consisting of an organic material and not containing a simple substance of carbon in a prescribed range of temperature and at a gradually rising temperature in an inert atmosphere, to thereby pyrolyze the components except carbon initially contained in the atmosphere and in the organic material at temperatures below 450‹C in rising order of decomposition temperature, and break the bond with carbon in the component. The above atomic carbon material exhibits the ability to absorb ions which is markedly superior to that of fullerene or nanotube. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007</p> |
