A height adjusting device is provided to adjust a height of a chair and a desk in a comfortable posture so that a user easily manipulates a height adjusting pin positioned at a suitable height. The height adjusting device includes a lower pipe(10) having height adjusting grooves(10a) formed on a leg portion of a chair and desk at regular intervals, an upper pipe(20) inserted into the lower pipe and having a rectangular groove(20a) formed on an upper portion thereof, a groove formed on a lower portion thereof for fixing a shake preventing member(33), and a height adjusting portion(30) inserted into the height adjusting groove of the lower pipe, and a finishing cap(40) fitted to an upper portion of the lower pipe for filling a gap formed between the upper and lower pipes.
