PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficiently vertically stretched film for use as an optical member. SOLUTION: The method of stretching the film comprises a stretching process of continuously stretching a thermoplastic resin film 7 in a moving direction 8 of the film while heating the film out of contact with the film in a hot wind oven 3, a process of stretching a wrinkle with rollers 11 and 12 after the stretching process of the film 7, each roller having a curvature in a widthwise direction, the curvature of the upstream side being smaller than the curvature of the downstream side, and a taking-up process.
