<p>The method involves transmitting a parameter telegram from a master assembly and receiving the telegram by a slave, where the telegram is addressed at the slave. A diagnosis data segment (8) of a diagnosis data packet (7) of the slave is transmitted to the master assembly, where the data packet is greater than four bit. The telegram transmission and reception steps and the segment transmission step are repeated until the segment is completely transmitted. The segment is received, and diagnosis data is generated from the received segment. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a slave for transmitting a diagnosis data packet over diagnosis data segments (2) a master assembly for generating a diagnosis data packet from diagnosis data segments of a slave.</p> |
